What is this article about?

The performance appraisal: What is it about this annual exercise that causes managers to hold their temples and the rest of the staff to go weak in their knees? After all, it’s simply a matter of aligning individual staff performance with the goals of the strategic plan. This most wondrous of documents, The Strategic Plan, might be found pinned to the notice board in the tea room - the whole 10 pages. This makes for a relaxing read during your lunch break, and because your unit is so well-staffed, there’s plenty of time during the shift for staff to ponder the link between their act of assisting a client in the shower, for example, and the strategic goal of ensuring ’the effective and efficient use of resources in the delivery of health services to our community…’ - easy!

This resource whilst short provided the required information in assisting not only myself but also my colleagues in the area of performance appraisals. In the past I have also been given the self appraisal and then asked to fill it out in the lead to a meeting with my manager. However I now see the benefit of going through these reports with colleagues directly to better provide direction and positive encouragement

The whole resource is really very useful for me. It gives me some knowledge on how to conduct a Perfomance Appraisal. There are some factors to be considered such as the environment structure, the preparation and the objectives of the whole process.

The resource is helpful especially to new managers like me and learning how to handle matters like the Appraisal Tool which sometimes become to scary both for managers and subjects. However through this learning -The Performance Appraisal: A guide for Managers it will help a lot on wise decision making and not to be scared but a tool to moving forward together and give the best quality of work and thus making progress for oneself and for the facility.

There are so many different subjects on Ausmed! I thought it'd be hard to find the resources I need for complicated procedures or rarer conditions, but they've had everything I've looked for so far.
