This Course will show you how to improve standards in your workplace by utilising the Australian Safety and Quality Framework for Health Care.

Target audience
Any health professional who is interested in learning more about quality and safety, or would like to know how daily activities fit into the current health care framework and the minimum standards that underpin accreditation for health service organisations.
Purpose
Develop an understanding of the Australian Safety and Quality Framework for Health Care tool to identify practical strategies you can apply to your practice to improve standards within your workplace.
Need
The Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care (ACSQHC) identified that Australia required a set of nationally consistent measures, to protect the public from harm and to improve the provision of health services.
By being aware of, and investing in uniform standards of safety and quality, we may reduce the increasing cost of healthcare, and meet a National Framework that sets out actions for safe and high-quality care for all Australians.
Learning Outcomes
- Healthcare provided to individuals in the Australian healthcare system will be recommended based on tangible data gathered through continual monitoring and improvement of services.

Educator
Anne Heath
Dr Anne Heath is a Lecturer at the University of Tasmania in the School of Nursing (College of Health and Medicine), and in the University College. She was formerly the Executive Director of Education for NOFASD Australia, travelling nationally to deliver FASD training to organisations, parents/carers, and the community. She continues her involvement with NOFASD Australia through membership on their Board of Management and has an extensive background in community services (disability, drug and alcohol, youth work, mental health, and homelessness). Her teaching specialities are applied health and community support, developmental psychology, human resource management, project management, and quality improvement. Anne currently enjoys lecturing and consulting in a range of capacities, and is passionate about raising awareness of FASD at every opportunity. Particularly focussing on articulating the importance of early diagnosis to ensure those who will live with FASD receive timely support to enable a better quality of life. See Educator Profile
