Online CPD

What is an Ausmed Subscription?

As you may already know, creating an Ausmed account and using the online CPD Organiser is absolutely free, however, an Ausmed subscription gives you unlimited access to a plethora of Online CPD content on our Online CPD portal, from Online CPD Courses and Video Conference recordings, to Podcasts, articles and more.

There are two payment plans available for individual subscribers: Quarterly - $90 recurring every three months; and Annual - $360 recurring every twelve months.

Both plans will give you full access to the Online CPD portal - there are no extra fees required and the subscriber can cancel anytime (provided it's before the next billing date).

How do I create an account

To create your account, go to the Ausmed website:

  1. Click on the pink 'Create Free Account' button on the top-right corner of any page on the site
  2. Follow all prompts until you have successfully created your account

How do I login to my account?

To log in to your account, go to the Ausmed website. From there:

  1. Click on the blue “Log-In” button on the top-right corner of any page on the site or head directly to www.ausmed.com.au/sign-in
  2. On the Log-In page, enter your Username and Password. If you have forgotten your login details, please select "Forgot Username or Password?"
  3. Once you have entered your details, the blue “Log-In” button will become available, click this button to log in to your account

How do I reset my password?

To change your password within your account:

  1. Click on the grey "Settings" icon in the top-right hand corner of the screen
  2. Click on "Account Settings" in the drop down box
  3. Click on "Reset Password" on the left hand side of your screen (under the Account Settings options)

If you are not logged in to your account and you have forgotten your password:

  1. Click the "Forgot username and password?" button in light blue located underneath the login button
  2. This will allow you to send a link to your email address to reset your password
  3. Reset your password via the link that is emailed to you

How do I start a subscription?

To start an Ausmed subscription, you will need to have an existing Ausmed account and be logged in to the Ausmed website. If you haven’t yet created an account, click here to create an account.

  1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
  2. Click on the orange "Start A Subscription" button found under you name on the right-hand side of the screen
  3. Click on the orange "View Subscription Pricing" button on the pop-up screen
  4. Select your payment plan, quarterly or annual, and continue to payment methods
  5. Enter your card details and click on the green "Process Payment" method

Once you have completed this process your card will be debited immediately and you will instantly receive full access to our Online CPD portal. You can cancel anytime if you do not wish to continue with your subscription. Just make sure that you cancel before your next renewal date if you do not wish to continue with your subscription.

How do I cancel my Ausmed subscription?

The Ausmed subscription is a self-managed, auto-renewal service. Cancelling anytime before your next transaction date will allow you to access the Online CPD portal until the end of the billing period.

Please note: If you do not cancel your subscription before your next transaction date, you will be debited for the next billing period as per Terms and Conditions.

To cancel your subscription, you must go to your Account Settings page on the Ausmed website.

  1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
  2. Click on the grey "Settings Icon" in the top right-hand corner of the screen
  3. Click on "Account Settings" in the drop down box
  4. On the Account Settings page, click on the "Subscription" button from left-hand side menu
  5. Click on the cancellation link on this page (please note: this will only appear if there are no outstanding invoices or failed payments)
  6. From here, provide some feedback regarding your experience with the Ausmed subscription and follow the prompts until you reach the cancellation confirmation
  7. You can confirm the status of your subscription by going to the Subscription page in your Account Settings - if this page displays a subscription end date and a button to restore your subscription, you can be sure that you have cancelled your subscription and we will not debit your account at the end of the billing period

Please note: Failed payments will incur outstanding invoices and your access to the Online CPD portal will be suspended until this outstanding invoice is paid. To pay this outstanding invoice, you will need to re-enter your card details.

What happens if my subscription payment has lapsed?

Just to remind you, cancelling is a self-managed process and the Ausmed subscription is an ongoing commitment as outlined in our terms and conditions.

Please be advised that to let your Subscription lapse assumes that you intended your Subscription to carry on to the next billing period. If, for example, you did not cancel your account prior to the transaction date and payment fails, then you incur an outstanding invoice - the cancellation link will then disappear as outstanding invoices need to be paid before cancellation can occur.

If you do not want to be debited for the next billing period, please ensure that you have cancelled your subscription before your next billing date.

What happens to my documentation if I cancel my Ausmed Subscription?

If you cancel your Ausmed Subscription, your account will simply revert back to the free tier. You will still be able to document CPD and access the free CPD available on the platform. However, you will no longer have access to any premium content from the Online CPD portal. All of the information and learning you documented whilst having an active Subscription will remain unchanged and available in your account.

How do I update my credit card details?

To update your credit card details on your account. You will need to sign into your account on the website.

  1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
  2. Click on the grey "Settings Icon" in the top right-hand corner of the screen
  3. Click on "Account Settings" in the drop down box
  4. On the Account Settings page, click the "Subscription" button from the left-hand side menu
  5. Within the subscription there will be a dark blue button "Add New Card", click it
  6. Add your card details and click the "Save" button

  • How do I unsubscribe from marketing emails?

    To unsubscribe from marketing emails, find one of our marketing emails in your inbox and simply click on the link that says: “To unsubscribe, please click here.” This link is usually found at the bottom of the email.

    This email address will immediately be unsubscribed from the mailing list and we will no longer send marketing emails to this email address.

    How do I change my email address?

    1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
    2. Click on the grey "Settings Icon" in the top right-hand corner of the screen
    3. Click on "Account Settings" in the drop down box
    4. On the Account Settings page, click "Account Details" button from the left-hand side menu
    5. Under "Account Details" and "Profile" you will find the subheading "Email", here you will be able to delete your old email address and input your new one
    6. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click the green "Save" button

    What counts as CPD?

    There are a variety of regular activities that can be considered CPD. It can be formal learning such as a postgraduate course, or an opportunistic unscheduled event from your experience that includes reflection on your practice. Examples of CPD include (but are not limited to):

    • Attending a CPD seminar or workshop
    • Attending a conference
    • Watching a video learning activity online
    • Listening to lectures
    • Online CPD for health professionals
    • Writing or reviewing educational materials, articles, journal articles, books
    • Completing a self-directed learning package
    • Presenting at an in-service, workshop, or developing educational tools
    • Undertaking postgraduate course units which are of relevance to your context of practice
    • Acting as a preceptor
    • Reflecting on feedback, keeping a practice journal
    • Participating in clinical audits, critical incident monitoring, case reviews or clinical meetings
    • Participating in a professional reading and discussion group
    • Developing policy, protocols and guidelines
    • Working with a mentor to improve practice
    • Conducting or contributing to research

    How do I document CPD?

    To document a CPD activity, you must have an existing Ausmed user account.

    1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
    2. Click on the blue “+ Document CPD” button on the top right-hand corner of your screen
    3. A dialogue box will pop up, beginning the documentation process
    4. You will then be prompted to enter certain information pertaining to the CPD you are documenting, which includes (but is not limited to):
      • Type, title, provider, duration (hours/minutes), date
      • Applicable standards
      • Context of practice
      • Reflection
    5. Follow the prompts and answer all questions with relevant responses
    6. Edit your reflection to make sure you have a unique account of your experience with this CPD activity
    7. Continue through the documentation process until you reach the screen that states you’ve successfully documented CPD
    8. Click on the “View Activity” button if you wish to view the CPD activity you’ve just documented

    How do I edit a documented activity?

    To edit a documented activity, including changing the dates, CPD hours/minutes earned, activity title, the activity’s relevant qualification, and so on, please follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
    2. Go to your My Portfolio page (link at the top of the page) and select the relevant CPD year
    3. Click on “Documented CPD” from the left-hand side menu
    4. Click on the activity that you wish to edit
    5. Click the “Edit” button on the right-hand side
    6. On this page, you can edit the information stored in this CPD activity, simply make your changes and then make sure to hit the green “Save” button once you are done editing

    How do I delete a documented activity?

    To delete a documented activity, please follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
    2. Go to your My Portfolio page (link at the top of the page) and select the relevant CPD year
    3. Click on “Documented CPD” from the left-hand side menu
    4. Click on the activity that you wish to delete
    5. Scroll to the bottom of the activity page
    6. Click the red “Delete This Activity” button to delete the activity, you will be asked to confirm this action

    How do I upload evidence to a documented activity?

    During the documentation process, you will be asked whether you would like to upload any evidence.

    However, to upload evidence to a CPD activity that you have previously documented, please follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
    2. Go to your My Portfolio page (link at the top of the page) and select the relevant CPD year
    3. Click on “Documented CPD” from the left-hand side menu
    4. Click on the activity that you wish to attach evidence to
    5. Scroll to the bottom of the activity page
    6. Click on “Upload Evidence”
    7. Select the file and upload

    Alternatively, click on the link that says “Evidence” from the left-hand side menu in your My Portfolio page.

    How do I download my CPD report?

    1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
    2. Go to your My Portfolio page (link at the top of the page) and select the relevant CPD year
    3. Click on “Audit CPD Report”
    4. Ensure that the report checklist is all checked
    5. Click on “Create CPD Report”
    6. Adjust the structure of your report and whether you wish to ‘show’ or ‘hide’ certain sections
    7. Once it is ready, click on “Preview PDF Report”
    8. Click on “Download CPD Report” or save and finish
    9. Choose to either include or exclude uploaded evidence
    10. Finally, click on the green “Download Now” button to download the report

    How do I download my annual tax statement?

    To download your annual statements for your Ausmed Subscription payments, please follow these steps:

    1. Log in to your account on the Ausmed website
    2. Click on the grey “Settings” icon on the top right-hand corner of the screen
    3. Click on “Account Settings” in the drop down box
    4. On the Account Settings page, click on “Tax Statements” from the left-hand side menu
    5. Under Payment Report, select a financial year and click the blue “Download Payment Report” button

    Troubleshooting: The videos aren’t playing

    Firstly, our website works better with the following two internet platforms: Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Please try to avoid using other internet browsers with our website especially if you are experiencing page formatting errors. Some problems can be remedied simply by using the right internet browser.

    However, even when using the recommended browsers mentioned, if you are experiencing any technical difficulties with any of our conference lectures, online courses, podcasts or embedded videos from third party websites, we provide a simple troubleshooting guide to help you resolve the issue.

    You will be asked to answer a series of questions and based on your responses, certain recommendations will be provided to help you rectify the issue.

    Alternatively, please try these troubleshooting suggestions

    1. Attempt to play the video via your account on the www.ausmed.com website on PC/laptop or in the mobile browser (not the App), to check whether it is a common problem on both platforms.
    2. Change the Internet connection (WiFi to mobile data or vice versa) to check whether the connection speed is too slow for videos.
    3. Logging out and logging back in or simply shut down the app completely and re-open it, to refresh the app.
    4. Attempt to play the video on different devices (ipad, phone or laptop).

    How do I add multiple regulatory boards in my Ausmed account?

    At this stage, we do not support multiple regulatory boards under one account. As an alternative, you can create a separate account (using a different email address) solely for the other profession/regulatory board.

    If you wish to start a Subscription or if you already have a Subscription, then you don’t need to pay for two Subscriptions. You will just need to switch accounts when you want to document CPD for either profession/regulatory board.

    Which professions/countries are supported?

    Ausmed Online is open worldwide for both the documentation tool and online education.

    However, some of the online learning content is based on Australian regulation standards. Some of the healthcare regulatory bodies we support with online content are as follows:

    • Occupational Therapy Board of Australia
    • Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia
    • Chiropractic Board of Australia
    • Physiotherapy Board of Australia
    • Chinese Medicine Board of Australia
    • Pharmacy Board of Australia
    • Paramedicine Board of Australia
    • Psychology Board of Australia
    • Osteopathy Board of Australia
    • The Nursing and Midwifery Council (UK)
    • Nursing Council of New Zealand
    • 50+ regulatory boards in the US

    We're continuing to improve our platform on a daily basis to expand and support the range of regulatory bodies in healthcare.

    Can I continue to use the free Ausmed CPD app without an Ausmed Subscription?

    You can continue to document your CPD for free and access the free in-app CPD articles. The documentation functionality of a free Ausmed account will remain free of charge for both the website and the Ausmed app.

    Do the app and website automatically synchronise?

    The app and website will automatically update each other provided an internet connection is available.

    Does Ausmed CPD count for international subscribers?

    The CPD on our website is specifically tailored to nurses and healthcare professionals in accordance with Australian regulations. However, you are more than welcome to Subscribe if you believe that the content is relevant to your needs.

    Choosing the correct course is a completely individual process. You will need to be mindful of the health profession that you specialise in, what certain topics are relevant to your needs and then gather information regarding your profession's guidelines and how its regulated in your region (E.g. If you are a Nurse/Midwife in Australia, that regulating body is AHPRA).

    Please contact your relevant nursing board directly for further clarification on your CPD guidelines.

    Events

    How do I register for an event?

    You can register for all of Ausmed’s events online, via post/email or over the phone.

    • To register online, locate the event you would like to attend on our website and click “Book Online Now”. Fill out the registration form and click “Confirm Registration”
    • To register via post or email, fill out a registration form and email it to ausmed@ausmed.com.au or send it in the post to Level 1, 171 La Trobe Street, Melbourne VIC 3000
    • To register over the phone, just give us a call on 1300 287 633

    No matter how you register, we will send you a confirmation email once your registration has been processed.

    How can I cancel my event registration?

    If you need to alter your registration in any way, you need to notify Ausmed as soon as possible. You can cancel your registration up until seven days prior to the first day of the event. To cancel, just send an email to ausmed@ausmed.com.au to let us know. For more details regarding cancellations, please refer to our Terms and Conditions.

    Will the event be catered?

    We provide morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea at all of our events.

    What if I have a dietary or access requirement?

    If you have already created your registration send an email to ausmed@ausmed.com.au detailing your requirement and we will do our best to meet your needs.

    If you have not created your registration you can add your dietary requirement under attendee information under the subtitle ”Add More Details”.

    Can a colleague take my place at an event I am registered for?

    If you have created your registration and can not attend please let us know at least seven days prior to the event start date by sending an email to ausmed@ausmed.com.au with the new delegate’s details.

    Please note: It is not permitted to replace one day of a delegate's two-day registration with a different delegate as this is deemed as a separate registration entirely.

    Parking Discounts

    For Melbourne events we offer parking $12 a day at these two locations:

    • Oaks on Collins: Secure Parking 522 Flinders Lane
    • Oaks on Market: Wilsons Parking 376 Flinders Street

    Student and overseas registrations

    Our events are open to anyone who is interested in attending, and the few exceptions where there are restrictions on who can attend will have these exceptions outlined on the specific event page on our website. It is up to the discretion of the person registering if they feel that the event will meet their needs.

    We have had a number of students attend our events. The feedback so far has been very positive and these students have gained further learning about their area of study and were able to converse with professionals already in the field.

    Overseas registrations accommodation, flights or visa arrangements will be your own responsibility, Ausmed is unable to provide any assistance with these arrangements. We are unable to provide any letters of invitation. Furthermore, all overseas registrations must be paid in full upon registration. If this is not received your registration will be cancelled. Please also be advised that the content offered by Ausmed Education is specifically tailored to Australian nurses and healthcare professionals in accordance with Australian regulations. However, you are more than welcome to attend our events if you believe that the content is relevant to you.
