Epilepsy and Seizure Awareness
Epilepsy is one of the most common long-term neurological conditions in the UK, and a seizure can happen at any time. Recognising a seizure, responding safely, and knowing when to escalate are essential parts of keeping the people you support safe.
In this awareness module, we'll cover what epilepsy and seizures are, common triggers and seizure types, and how to follow seizure first aid and a person's epilepsy care plan, including when to call for emergency help.

What you'll learn:
Understand what epilepsy and seizures are, and the impact they can have on the people you support.
Identify the knowledge and tools you need to support a person at risk of seizures, including the role of the epilepsy care plan.
Recognise and respond appropriately to a seizure, follow seizure first aid, and escalate and report in line with the person's epilepsy care plan.
