The purpose of this microcredential is to offer an introductory view into breast cancer. This microcredential provides the nurse greater insight into the anatomy and physiology of the breast and a description of the transition from normal cells to cancer cells. Breast cancer will be discussed in detail including types of breast cancer, risk factors and the impact of breast cancer on a variety of cohorts. It establishes a sound underpinning of knowledge for the nurse who wants to be introduced to the foundational concepts of breast cancer.
This microcredential is the first in a series of three that corresponds to the unit of study 327 Principles of Breast Cancer Nursing.
