People living with dementia may experience a range of cognitive, psychological and behavioural changes. Caring for these individuals requires patience, empathy and a solid understanding of how these changes present and what drives them.

This Training Module discusses what dementia is and how it presents; strategies for recognising and responding to changed behaviours, including restlessness, expressions of distress, hallucinations and disinhibited behaviours; the ABC approach to behaviour management; and practical supports for communication, purposeful engagement and daily living.
